It felt rather rushed, the beginning was very slow then everything was rushed, and it lacked a "glue" to keep it together and make work. Sadly, not the book I was expecting.

It might have been the fact that I read this book during Covid, but I *really* liked this novel!
I think the hurricane plot felt close enough to the Covid emergency that I was able to escape, but still really relate to an emergency situation. The plot seemed to be more real to me than it might have earlier.
It's a fast, enjoyable and interesting read.

Hard to get through
While the setting was beautifully created, the characters were all quite frustrating and made illogical decisions. Sometimes it felt like Cabot was trying to fit too much detail into single sentences, making it a less enjoyable read. I think it had the potential to be a really good story but missed the mark.

So. Dumb. And she's a 20-something woman who can't say condom. "Where's the, uh, thing you said you have?" Omg.

This was slow and boring, and it really felt like nothing happened. I could describe the entire book to you in about ten seconds. Just not my thing at all.
