This is a fictional account of Dinah’s life from the book of Genesis, honoring the stories and perspectives of women, especially Jacob’s wives, Rachel and Leah, Zilpah and Bilhah, and of course Dinah. 

The tone is very spiritual and sensual at the same time, and Diamant’s prose is immersive.

She doesn't shy away from hardship and the ugly details of life, but also celebrates the strength, knowledge, and accomplishments of Dinah and the women who form her sisterhood.
