Incredible. The structural twist at the end is something I’ve never seen before. Really well done. A great story with great characters.

“That's what war is," Cobb told me. "A bunch of sorry, desperate fools on both sides, just trying to stay alive. That's the part that those stories you love leave out, isn't it? It's always more convenient when you can fight a dragon. Something you don't have to worry you'll start caring about.”

This is what sums up Starsight for me. Spensa going out into the big wide galaxy and seeing all the other species out there. Each with their own set of prejudices, but also their culture, heritage, and history. History is always a funny thing, it is always being written by those who come out on top. Humans in this universe are treated as the worst criminals. And so far we do not know what the Human Wars were at all. Spensa had a really hard time navigating the field of spy work, fitting in with her new flight, learning about new species, and trying not to be caught up in a weird and long political game. The threat of the Delvers was a constant thread throughout the novel, and the way it is tied up was a twist I truly did not see coming. It resonated with the whole message of this story. It is easy to hate and destroy insects who are just buzzing at you and annoying you, but the moment you see them as living beings with real lives your whole perspective might shift.
