The Naming is an amazing book! I enjoyed all the surprises that kept me reading. It was interesting to learn about the Bard life and history and everything that came up. Cant' wait to read the next book in the series.

This was definitely one of my all time favorite reads. I loved Maerad her personality was enjoyable and she never once really got on my nerves like the main characters of many other books have a habit of doing.

I thought this book was pretty good, for a first book. I actually enjoyed the little shout - out to the Earthsea trilogy with Cadvan's past escapade. I also thought the appendices were clever too.

STILL AS GOOD AS IT WAS IN GRADE 3
had parallels to lotr (beren & luthien, a river called cirion, minas tirith) but still very original
I'm so surprised all the period references flew completely over my head, like there were at least 5 descriptive mentions of it.
Highly recommend

The start was pretty slow, and I didn’t find the dialogue gripping. After reading some reviews, it did not appear that this was the type of book for me.

The Gift was overall enjoyable start of heroine’s journey, despite being more high fantasy than what I usually like; /really/ heavy on lore and world-building and prophecies about defeating the ancient evil.
