simifilm's review against another edition
3.0
Incredibly vast selection of films, very well read in sf theory, but unfortunately quite tiring to read. Bould doesn't want to present a single, encompassing theory of sf but instead sheds lights on many different aspects. While this approach certainly can be justified on a conceptual level, it makes for tedious reading. Since the book doesn't really develop an argument, the whole thing feels a bit arbitrary in the end.
It's also strange that the book lacks a filmography and doesn't include a single screenshot.
