Against my better judgement due to their age difference, I still ship the shit out of Rose and Dimitri.

I think Vampire Academy is becoming my favourite paranormal young adult series. It's really beating the hell out of some of the other stuff I've read, and I find it really enjoyable. I hadn't been expecting to like it as much because once upon a time I watched that god awful movie, but it's really putting that movie to shame.

I enjoyed the character additions to the cast with this one too, particularly Adrian. I can't wait to read more.

We need half stars, Goodreads! This is more of a three and a half stars book, but I gave it four for Dimitri! Haha

Most of this book had me going for more of a three star rating, but the last third or so of it is what really pushed Frostbite into the four star category. I'm so completely numb and in shock from the shocking conclusion...my jaw hit the floor, for God's sake! I don't want to be too "spoiler-y" or whatever the correct term is, but...the death hit me. Hard. Honestly didn't see that one coming!

ROSE IS ANNOYING!
The whole book is "my best friend has a bf and doesn't shower me with attention", "I know I have to be responsible, but I really want to be crazy at this inappropriate moment", "oh, Dimitriy thinks of me as a little girl... let's act like one, this will prove him wrong".

So, annoying. I expected some badassness when her mother showed up. And it was super disappointing because Rose decided upon acting stupid. (Surprised?)

The first book was way more interesting. There was a plot twist. Now we have some rogue strigoi wreaking havoc and.... that's not as important as Rose's teenage BS, obviously.

I don't want to spend any more time writing about this sad book.

Very good follow up to the first book. It's funny to me now that I'm reading them because I wasn't sure I would like them at all. Now I find it hard to not go right into the next one (which I will).

I just LOVE Dimitri. I know some people say it's sick because he's 24 and he's Rose's mentor. But honestly, 7 years is NOT that big of a deal. My husband is 5 years older than me and it's never been a big deal.

Anyways, I really hope they end up together in the end. I hear lots of things about what will happen and they make me sad, but hopefully with the book #6 that's coming out in December, whatever else happens they will be together.

I'm also really looking forward to the next book because I hear they're together in it. Speaking of which, I loved how this one ended.

I can kind of see how some people would be rooting for Adrian, but I'm not really at this point. I'm kind of the type of person who roots for the first love. Dimitri and her have already fallen in love, I don't think Adrian should ruin that. He seems like an okay guy, but I don't know.

I also like Mia more. It sucks that her mom had to die and then she had to see Mason die for her to be likable, but I have a feeling she'll be better in the rest of the books. Speaking of which, that sucks that Mason had to die. I guess Richelle had to drop ONE of the love interests, seeing that here's three now.

Overall this book was very easy to read, fun, and kept me turning the pages. Now I'm onto the next one! :)

Content warnings: death, violence, alcohol use, mention of sex, girl on girl hate, mentions of cutting, mentions of depression

I can't help but compare this series to the Covenant novels because I read them first. And oh my gosh is this series so much better. I mean yeah there's still the occasional girl on girl hate and love triangle-y crap (which thankfully was resolved this book) but there's more substance to these novels. They aren't as exasperating as the aforementioned series.

I especially like how Richelle Mead has put in Rose dealing both with the death of someone she cared about AND about causing death in others. She doesn't just pick herself up and act like everything's fine and nothing happened. She actually deals with it in a very real way. And the conflict between her and her mother.

I completely called the bit with rich douchey guy and having some of the same connection that Lissa does. I have my thoughts about what he meant with what he's told Rose about her but none of them fully formed enough to speculate.

Rose's mother was completely uncalled for in her actions at the banquet that Rose attended with Lissa as her guest at her request. I have a lot of mixed feelings about Rose's mum. Like I can see some of why she is the way she is. And I can understand it but the way she's choosing to treat her daughter because of her decision's instead of Rose's decisions bother me a lot.

Overall this was a great book that I enjoyed.
