This book was SO good. I couldn't put it down. It's rare that a book sucks me in this hard, but this book did it.

I've got to admit, the book started of a bit rocky and I was a bit confused in the beginning, but it picked up really fast. The tension between Arthur and Mika flew off the pages. This book made all the cheesy tropes just work. It's one of the best rivals-to-lovers I've ever read. If you're here for the magic world building you'll be dissapointed, but if you're here for silly Dirty Dancing references (my favourite movie of all time), cheeky references to fanfiction and good banter, prepare to fall in love.

This had all my favourite tropes in it. Rivals-to-Lovers. Soulmates. Fake-Dating. Forced proximity. Party games. Slow-burn.
It was done well and that’s really all I needed to be happy.

It was very clear that the author writes fanfiction. The vibes are all over it. Can’t say I’m mad though. She made it her own and I adored the story. And I love fanfiction so it’s a plus for me anyway.

I'm gonna say that this reads like fanfiction, and I mean that in the BEST way possible—it has all of my absolute favorite tropes and seeing them executed like this just makes me so so happy ♡ The characters are fully aware of how crazy the set up is (including making gratuitous references to fanfiction), and that makes it all the more entertaining. This book is hilarious and pulls you into the shenanigans from the very first page, and you can't help but need to watch as everything unfolds. And it's all given with a fun and captivating voice!
On a related note: I, like the author it seems, am partial to using em dashes and semicolons, so I had a lot of fun with the writing style lol
Along with everything else, I love that we're given a story with zero homophobia or transphobia.
