One of the most important pieces of literature in U.S. history. It is a first hand account of the horrors of the Holocaust and the atrocities of the Nazi party.

There is courage in Wiesel’s words. He recounts, with honesty, trauma after trauma that most readers could never dream of. This book is an essential artifact in remembering our history and never allowing it to happen again.

I gave this book a 5/5 because I found this book to tell a story that was very reflective and interesting. It was also a little bit sad at some points of it. This book is truly an amazing story of bravery, love, and care for the weak by the main character.

A gripping narrative of the author’s experience in the Holocaust. Relatively short but packs an emotional punch - Wiesel’s prose is devastatingly beautiful and paints a picture of the absolute devastation the worst of humanity can wreak.

This book explores the Holocaust in a way that I've never seen before. The detail expressed is heartbreaking, and earthshattering, making you want to kiss the ground your reading on. I cannot recommend this book enough, thank you to my sophomore-year high school teacher Mr. Hill for introducing it to me. It was a great read then, and still is now.
