Really enjoyed the story, but I would recommend reading it over the audiobook.

One of the best books, I've read in a while. One of those book where you can imerge yourself in the story and it feels like you're watching everything with your own eyes.

This was an incredible and immersive fantasy story. At many points, specifically with Loth’s adventures, the story reminded me of The Lord of the Rings. There was adventure, romance, issues in a royal court, dragons, trials, many different forms of compassionate friendships, and so much more. It was truly engaging. Although, at times, it could be a bit slow-paced, but it still went by so fast for me. The main battle that you wait the whole book for felt very quick. However, it still satisfied me enough. I became so invested in these kingdoms and all of their politics and differences. So, the ending was pleasing - even though an epic battle would have been great to read and end on. Definitely recommend this book. And even though the size may be intimidating for some, it is well worth it and will hardly feel like it’s 800 pages.

Shannon did not disappoint. The attention to detail in this story was impeccable. There were so many things happening throughout but it all came together and made sense. The first half of the book is a lot of world and plot building. Once you get to the second half things become more intense, but nothing can compare to everything that happens within the last 100-200 pages of the book.

Spoiler One thing I noticed though was that throughout this whole story the main antagonist was the Nameless One. Every character in this book knew of him and were afraid of his return. However, He didn't show up in the book until like page 773 out of 804. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that the differences between countries and regions in regard to the religion was focused on a lot throughout the book and the Nameless One is more like "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" situation. I also did not understand in the second to last chapter when Tane went to Komoridu and fell asleep and woke up with a white butterfly in her hands and blood on her side. Where did the blood come from???

Huge, epic, and gay. Quality animal and dragon friends to help our protagonists (I especially loved the Ichnuemon). All but one of the pov characters are POC. I wish I could watch this as a series. 5/5 stars and no notes.

Easily one of my favorite books of all time!!! I couldn’t put it down and was gasping as I read. Don’t be intimidated by the length - it moves really fast.
