"The third volume in the series featuring the Mayfair witches, following "The Witching Hour" and "Lasher". The Taltos are the spirits - immortal, dangerous and damned - from whom the Mayfairs derive their occult powers, and at whose mercy they are." (From Amazon)

I had to read the third book to see how it ends.

This is the third in the Mayfair witches series that began with The Witching Hour. While that book and it sequel, Lasher, were in the horror genre, Taltos ventures more into the realm of science fiction and fantasy. It was well written as are all of Anne Rice's novels, and I felt compelled to find out what happened to the characters from the earlier books, but I didn't find it as interesting or scary as the earlier books in the series. As in many of Rice's books it explored the thought-provoking themes of nature vs. nurture, free choice, good and evil.

Parts of the book are slow to get through and I wanted more out of the endingĀ

I did not expect this ending! A great end to the series.
