When I read the synopsis I was excited for this one, the characters getting to know each other by letters and then turns out the author is also the famous movie star? Amazing! But the book wasn't actually about that. The characters barely exchange like four letters and we are not privy to them. We dont actually get to have the characters ge to know each other and connect and before long they are already in love and can't live without each other! We don't get to know much of Rebecca besides that she loves books and teaching and she came across as a little annoying when every time anything eveb remotely upsetting happened to her she just burst into tear and runs away without actually talking things through. I like Dara a lot more but then there was the talking to spirits of the dead plot and that was so random and felt so out of place! I came for the movie star falling in love through letters with a lit professor, not random talking to the dead that make no sense and is only used in the plot to explain abuse and to forgive abuse which i hated so much. If someone abused someone and realize they fuck up they should apologize while alive and fully aware of their functions not after they are in a comma and fucking dead. Very disappointing read.

I didn’t mind the story, maybe if I read it instead of listen to it I would have scored it better. The narrator was terrible and made Rebecca constantly sound like a confused teenager instead of a college professor. Skip the audio version!!! This book would have been awesome if read by somebody like Abby Craden.

The problem with this book is the dialogue 100% seems very forced and all the same for every character. Plot was good and had a lot of potential but the dialogue and even sometimes characters inner monologue overpowered the potentially good scenes. Could’ve been better 3 stars
UPDATE: I decided to reread this book. It’s not that bad- raising to 4 stars but my point still stands. The dialogue was forced in a lot of places and the paranormal aspect seemed uncomfortable.

It took me awhile to get into this audiobook. But once I finally got to the point where the two MCs where interacting in person I really liked it. This book is the strangest mix of slow burn/insta-love, but I really liked it anyway. I am s sucker for a "hollywood" trope and the two main are so in love it's hard to not just fall in love with both of them. If you have Audible Escape do not hesitate to check out this book.

I have a soft spot for this book, which was one of my earliest sapphic reads.
What draws me to it is the character of Dara, and her struggle to be seen for who she really is rather than just another gorgeous Hollywood body.
I've read it and re-read it and listened to it several times, and somehow keep forgetting how big a role the supernatural plays in it.
I'm not particularly attuned to the otherworldly, nor do I actively seek it in my reads. But for some reason, I don't mind that so much of the book revolves around it either.
A good read, if you're not one to roll your eyes at the mention of angels.

I'd probably go 3.5 if it was available. Very sweet romance with some angels and hollywood movie creation. Well written, too!
