This was a challenging novella to read because of the POV/ content.  I very much appreciated the trigger warnings despite not being triggered.

Would recommend.

I think that people who enjoyed The Deep by Rivers Solomon would also enjoy this book, which is another way of saying that i didn’t particularly enjoy this book. The way this was written was just kind of bizarre, like almost kind of flowery but at the same time felt kind of distant and abstract? I don’t know, but I felt like I was at an arm’s distance the whole time and never felt particularly connected to the character or the plot. The thing is, the ending was the most interesting part and if the whole book had been exploring the ending, I would have liked it a lot better.

I wholly adored this book. So much so I read it in about 3 hours.

Iraxi is the sole survivor of her people trapped on a boat full of opps… pregnant. We get to know her past, her present situation and her future through the vivid writing of Zin E. Rocklyn. I loved the journey and super loved the ending. Giving very scorned Pisces energy and I loved it. Can’t wait to read more of their writing!

I’d say it’s body horror but it might just be what unsettles me personally. Very good, chilling.
