This book was OK.  The other twisted tales I've listened too have much more of a twist and a different story line. This is basically the story of Snow White with very little twist. I did enjoy getting more background on the witch.

I really did not enjoy this book, and tbh only finishes it out of a strange compulsion I have to see the end of things lol. Given it's one of many twisted tales, though my first that I'm reading, I figured this book would be enjoyable given the success of the other stories. It was truly so hard to read. The writing relies very heavily on people already being familiar with the story of Snow White. Plot points are just delivered to you, there's no real building around them. The pace of the story is exceptionally slow. And you feel like you never get to really know any of the characters at all. The reason I gave it a 1.5 instead of like 0 or 1 stars is because I'm not a young adult and I'm sure this book is targeted for them so maybe it's more enjoyable to them? But I read plenty of YA and this just didn't do it for me at all. It feels mean but honestly I found the story boring, not very imaginative, and overall kind of lackluster.

I enjoyed the Evil Queen's backstory a lot, but I'm a little disappointed that the twistedness of the story doesn't happen until around the 80% mark. It really wasn't a big part of the plot either. Coming from an adult reader, this also read very YA. I know I'm not the target audience for the book, but I've read a few others in the series that did not feel so obviously YA like this one. In terms of a Snow White retelling, I enjoyed it. But I wouldn't say it was very twisted.

I think this was one of the best Snow White fairy tale retellings I've read in a long time!

Let's see....This book just sucked me in almost from the start. I finished it within a day. We had the dwarfs. Name another Snow White retelling that has the dwarfs in it because I can't think of any that has them in it other than Once Upon a Time, but that's a tv show, not a book.

The evil queen was evil enough in the way that it was just well done. We had flashbacks for Snow and the evil queen.

The only flaw I saw was that I felt more connected between the other characters instead of the romance plot. I thought the purpose of Henri's story should had happened sooner than it did to make it stand out more. I don't want to give too much more than this because I don't want to spoil it for anybody.

Overall, Mirror, Mirror was still one of the best Snow White retellings. It was a five star read based on the fast paced, characters, flash backs and the connection between other characters and the evil queen herself.
