I actually quite enjoyed the book of the OG summer blockbuster.

I really enjoyed the characterisation of Brody and the glimpse into the stress and pressure he is under as the seemingly only cool head in this scenario.

The gore was good and the parts of the novel as written from the sharks perspective were interesting. A fun and quick beach read that will definitely have you paying a little more attention to what’s in the water.

Funny and dark, this was completely different than how I expected it to be. I thoroughly enjoyed it at first-it was suspenseful and had me laughing. However, it started dragging about 1/3 of the way in. Pacing was awkward, and most of the book felt forgettable to me-should’ve been shorter.

The ending creeped up on me and I would have liked to read one or two more chapters, but I absolutely enjoyed it. I thought the piece of romance and then the confrontation at the dock should have been in the movie. But families had to see it... I get it.
