beautiful and thought provoking. this book felt like a breath of fresh air, especially with mandel’s prose. i absolutely love her writing and this book was everything i loved: sci-fi and literary. i enjoyed this a lot more than station eleven. there were so many parts here that were very reflective and had to make me pause and reconsider life for a moment. i can’t wait to reread this in the future. 5/5 stars

Didn't really care for the author self-insert character, vis a vis dealing with a pandemic. Some of the sci-fi logic didn't make a ton of sense to me either. The book is pretty decently written, with some nice prose throughout, but I found it middling overall.

Super satisfying read, I could see where it was going at certain points and it all clicked together so nicely. A lot of reference to COVID-19 and portrayal of living under other pandemic lockdowns for those sensitive to that.
