I wasn't sure I was going to continue this volume but it is just so pretty I couldn't help it.

I already liked this a great deal more but the problem with these are that they are so short you have immediately finished them.

Gives us a lot but it's all still too expositional and literal. Will stick with it, but hoping for improvement soon.

Mini review:

Spoilers ahead!

This was read for The Dream Thieves: Badass Broads.

Trigger warning: Drug addiction, mention of earth quake, mention of death, neglectant parent, and mention of kidnapping.

Chapter 2 picks up a few days after chapter 1. Nina is trying to figure out how to rescue Marisa and wrap her around magic. She first seeks out her father who call's her crazy. He has no care regarding Marisa's disappearance and brushes it off. I'm starting to see where Nina get's her attitude from.

Nina's only other clue is the guy from the bar. Whose name is revealed to be Clint. Her now talking cat Sharpie isn't providing much help either. Sharpie seems to speak in gibberish. Some of what Sharpie says makes sense. But not much more than that.

Nina was much better in this chapter! I actually enjoyed her character. The magic system is coming along nicely. Along with a possible reason for Marisa's kidnapping. Not sure how to feel about the rest of the characters. I will be reading the next chapter!

I recommend reading the bind up. That way everything can come together easily.

ahhh!!! this was so good!

The plot is gripping, the mythology is fascinating and I'm itching to learn more about this world and this characters. Nina is a great protagonist!

For just a single issue, so much has happened!

The art is absolutely gorgeous!

I highly recommend this ongoing comic for beautiful art and setting, for mysterious and captivating plot! Also it seems like all of the main characters are people of color.
