Finally read this classic. It was a delicious, dark, funny, melancholic, inventive, horrifying book that worked close to perfectly for me. I look forward to rereading it throughout life and I am very glad to have finally picked up Vian's work.

I re-read this book regularly, and it still amazes me every single time, just like it did my first time reading it. A creative, surrealist, poetic and tragic book which also present a brilliant critic on capitalism, work culture and religious institutions (which is still relevant to this day). It is a beautifully written book, with many clever metaphors, images and symbols, truly a work of art that everybody should read once in their lifetime. It is and will always be my favorite book.
