Meet Me In The Blue by A.M. Johnson is book one of the Hemlock Harbor series. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I will be reading more of her work.

This quickly had my attention and I just breezed right through it. I was drawn in from the beginning and I read it straight through without stopping.

Luka and Rook were soulmates from the moment they meet as children. It was such a sweet and innocent love, you could feel their chemistry burning off the pages. This was more about being open, honest, supportive, present in the moment and the connection the two main characters head. It was also about the intimacy of just being together and knowing the other person loved and accepted you. It didn’t have to go further than that, it was beautiful. This is not full of smutty scenes, I believe their was only three intimate ones. In this case, a little goes a long way. I know I just want more of Luka and Rook.

This quickly became one of my favorite MM romances and if anyone has some similar ones please leave me some recommendations.

Excited for when the next installment is going to be released because this series is chefs kiss already

This was a sweet emotional read, but I really loved there watching of the 'blue'

Excited to meet the characters for the next book and continue exploring Hemlock Harbour.

4 or 4.5 stars - though I listened on audible and think it would be a been better on kindle.

the MC was childhood friends but LUKA pined for his friend ROOK and had to go to the city and give himself space.. years and years later, he's back as his dad is ill, and ROOK is eventually there to support him..

Interesting plots with ROOK's questioning sexuality, and I thought that the way the author explored with the character the fluidity of this was realistic - he didn't wake up one day and decide he was demisexual, but over a long period was considering and exploring what he wanted. ROOK is a sweetheart and an innocent, and has been generally ace until Luka came back into town..

A slow relationship build, very romantic and emotional before it turns spicy.

Meet Me in the Blue

Rook and Luka

Oh you may need to have a few tissues on hand while reading Rook and Luka's story. It was sweet. I loved the flashbacks of these two meeting at 9 yrs old and becoming best friends and scenes of them as they grew older. The transitions from present to past were well done. Can't wait for book 2!

I really enjoyed this book. This is my first A.M. Johnson book, and I'm really impressed by the writing style and lyrical prose. The characters are likeable and relatable, and the story as a whole is really heartwarming. The relationship between Luca and his father is amazing. I always get emotional when reading queer books that feature strong parental relationships. I feel like the book setup a lot of potential couples for other books in the series, so I'm interested to see which couples the author chooses to highlight.
