amanda always writes such beautiful books and this is no exception. with this best friends to lovers, second chance, small town romance, we get luka and rook who meet back in life after luka comes back into town when his dad gets sick. their relationship and navigating pending their friendship after years apart was beautiful. rook and his demi-awakening was done so beautifully and i just ate up every word in this book. i loved the vibes and feelings this book gave me. i loved the whole meaning the title of the book brings to the story.

This book combines all my favorite tropes into one beautiful story so of course I loved it. The emotional depth and raw vulnerability of the characters touched my heart and I found myself fully invested in their journey. It's rare to find a book that ticks all the boxes for me but this one certainly did.

The connection between Rook and Luka was so genuine and heartfelt. The second chance aspect of the story added an extra layer of depth and emotion. It was heartwarming to witness them reconnect after years apart and their journey towards rediscovering their love.

Rook's journey of self-discovery and understanding his own sexuality was perfectly portrayed and I recognized myself so much in him. Luka is very sensitive and feels too much at times, he’s a very lovable character. I adore Rook and Luka very much, they are made for each other.

This book creates a cozy and intimate atmosphere and the supporting characters, including friends and families, were well-developed and added depth to the story, I loved them all.

This book was beautifully written and I absolutely loved it!

Luca & Rook’s story was a beautiful one. It was a GFY, friends to lovers story. Life & circumstances kept Luca & Rook apart. But everything changed when Luca’s father was nearing the end of his life. I felt so much emotion reading this book. Happiness, sadness, despair and jubilation. I could really relate to all that these characters went through. This is a must read!

This book gutted me. There's a lot of grief mixed in with pain and heartbreak and missed opportunities. But there is a HEA, so that's good!!

I loved both characters so much, but especially Luka because I saw so much of myself in him.
He is a very sensitive guy, he feels too much, he's a bit overwhelmed by what's happening around him. He detaches himself from things, because he is afraid of failure and all the hurt that stems from difficult situations.

Luka's dad dying was a huge part of the story, and I feel it overtook the book at some point, that's why I only gave it 4 stars. It was a bit much at times, to witness all the grief and the toll it took on the family.

And then Rook, what a wonderful character. The way his sexuality is layed out was one of the highlights of this book. His journey of self discovery was a beautiful thing to witness.

I absolutely loved their friendship, those little flashbacks offered a lot of depth to it. The bond these guys had was amazing, how comfortable they were around each other, how beautifully they grew up and cultivated their friendship.

I hated that even though they tried to communicate their feelings for each other, they still ended up not understanding what the other one was actually feeling. So basically they were in a huge miscommunication situation, but listen, I love angst and pining, so it really worked for me.
