Really unsure what to rate this. Overall, enjoyed the early story, but
the human trafficking subplot at the end was too abruptly done to really handle the topic with any grace, I think. It seemed like the trafficked women in the final few chapters of the book were only there to showcase that Carson and Grace were both “good people,” which felt distasteful.
Moderate: Trafficking
Minor: Rape and Sexual assault

I love everything about this book...not much else to say!
I am obsessed with the characters, the plot, and the development that occurs throughout the story. I originally thought that it would be an "all smut/vibes no plot" kind of book but boy, I was MAJORLY wrong. the spice honestly takes a backseat to the amazing and heartwarming character development of both Grace and Carson. By the end of the story, I felt like I truly knew these characters IRL and felt proud of them many times for the changes they made to their lives.
I loved this book so much that I made my boyfriend buy me every Mia Sheridan book my local Walmart had to offer before I was even finished lol. 1000/10 stars.

I can already tell this is going to be an unpopular review, but there were so many red flags in this one y’all I really couldn’t get past it 🚩🥴
I’ve heard amazing things about mia sheridan’s book, and I still will pick up more of hers, but the characters in this one just didn’t work for me at all. I loved the concept of a male dancer meeting a lawyer and immediately hitting it off, but their back stories were walking red flags - and I’m a firm believer that these two are not a long term couple.
the triggers for me, including sexual assault and forced pregnancy, was too much - and I wish I had known that going in, to be honest. if you’re going to force a minor to keep a baby that she clearly doesn’t want, that’s just … not a good plot point to embellish and romanticize, sorry.
ANYWAY, I’ve seen rave reviews on this one, and while a part of me is screaming “did we read the same book” I can understand that the chemistry was hot and the lead up before the drama was veryyyyy intriguing …
I’m also chalking this up to my very meh june so far oops
thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!!

I pride myself on being able to predict how books and movies are going to play out. Boy was I wrong time and time again while reading this one. Each page brought an unexpected layer to the story, making this book stand out for me. Grace is described as the girl with a plan while Carson is the more carefree character but one weekend changes all of that for them. While I wasn't the biggest fan of the judgment on his early career choice, I know this is common. Overall I liked how both Carson and Grace grew up separately over time before realizing they should be together. The weekend was a huge catalyst in both of their lives. Sometimes it really is the right person, wrong time. The way Mia used this book to also shed light on a huge issue like human trafficking is admirable. I really hope there are some Carson's out there in this world trying to fight that battle just as passionately as he is alongside his team.
3/5 Spice Level
TWs are mild to moderate.
While I received an ARC of this book, my thoughts are all my own.
