Making Money is a comedy about a criminal who must reform a bank, but unlike most Discworld books, there isn't much beyond the pitch. The story moves fast without the detail and emotional pull that makes other books so compelling, but it is a fun ride. Making Money fits in with the earlier Discworld books like Moving Pictures, documenting the path of a new technology without much room for social commentary. Still, it's an informative and interesting guide to the gold standard, why we used it, and why we don't, as well as a lighthearted thriller with twists and turns. Great fun, good read, but not much more.
