El final es mil veces mejor que el de la película.

I am soso surprised about how much I loved this. As i read this for school i expected it to be rather slow and dense but I am Legend was anything but!
So frickin suspenseful, I just had to keep turning the pages.
5/5 I 100% recommend!

I Am Legend is a novel by Richard Matheson, first published in 1954. The book tells the story of Robert Neville, the last surviving human in a world that has been overrun by vampires. Neville spends his days scavenging for supplies and trying to find a cure for the virus that caused the transformation of the world's population into vampires. As he struggles to survive and maintain his sanity, he reflects on the events that led to the downfall of civilization and searches for any signs of other survivors. The novel explores themes of loneliness, isolation, and the will to survive in a bleak and hopeless world.

I Am Legend really brought this collection up. But the short stories were still mildly entertaining! Not all of them very scary, I would say.

Hard to separate the massive influence this one had on the “Zombie” genre and the actual book itself.

Of the multiple movies it inspired I had only seen the Will Smith vehicle. And unlike that movie- the main character here was an immensely unlikable alcoholic asshole.

But has somewhat of a character growth story arc and it was cool seeing the origin of many of the concepts that formed the basis of the books it influenced

The only thing I have to say is this: why. Why the dog. What did the dog do to you, Richard Matheson. How rude.

Ok, I guess I have something else to say too: the ending felt a bit rushed. Like the author forgot he was only writing a novella and had to finish everything up in a limited page count. Other than that the story (for me at least) was a bit meh. I don't want to downplay the influence I am Legend had on the genres of sci fi and horror/thriller, but it was perhaps not long enough for me to really love it.
