This was a fun, middle grade fantasy novel. Brida finds out who she is; fights an evil queen, her huntsman, and the hounds to try and save the people from a blight that has been attacking their crops. It reminded me of the newer versions of Snow White and I like that it had slightly darker themes.

What a great new fantasy world! Brida is a fantastic heroine, thinking that she is not important and that her magic is inferior because she hasn't been able to pass the apprentice hedgewitch exams. As her journey unfolds and she learns to trust her instincts and her magic, she finds that she is much more powerful than she could have ever imagined. This is a must read for fantasy lovers. I hope there will be a sequel. Highly recommended for grades 4 & up.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Last Windwitch was an excellent story! I really enjoyed getting to know Brida and Mother Magdi and the whole world. The story was full of rich detail, exciting magic, and I LOVED the weather element with the storm horses. The book was suspenseful and wrapped up perfectly, and I couldn't put it down. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in fantasy and middle grade, and I plan to keep a copy of this in my classroom library.
