Dawnspell: The Bristling Wood by Katharine Kerr

I think this would have been a good book if I had read the first two. As it is though, I felt like I was jumping in the middle of the story (which I was) and I was completely lost. To make things even more confusing, halfway through the story jumps ahead 400 years (I don't remember how many for sure) and tells a different person's story. I actually liked the second story better once I finally realized what had happened(that took a few chapters).

This book contains lots of sex and crude language. Beware!

And the story simply continues.

There are more challenges and moments to be lived in these various story threads that are so intricately interwoven.

It's just such a good series. And even though owning the paperback edition, I listened to this as well as audiobook and enjoyed the narration very much.

Another really solid installment in this series. Not quite as compelling for me as Darkspell was, but really good. I'm super curious to pick up with the past timeline again, maybe in the next book. And of course I love the Salamander and Jill duo, and can't wait to see them continue their adventures. The Perryn storyline was the darkest so far in this series, and though I hate his guts and hope he dies violently, I do really want to know what's going on there. I'm glad I own the next book and can pick it up soon!

I’m continuing to love this series. This would be my third re-read over a few decades.

Probably my favourite part of the main story. Salamander is the best character and really balances out Jill and Rhodry's dynamic well. Also enjoy that what happened to Jill in this book is taken seriously by those around her.
