Good introduction to the home brew hobby for those who want to progress from kit packs. I'll be honest, I'm still a novice in terms of home brew and I found the early chapters a bit heavy. Wheeler launches straight into the science which I found a little difficult to grasp at first.

That said, Wheeler is comprehensive and opinionated on what he feels works and does not work. If I ever progress from kits this book will be an invaluable resource.

Much of the book is recipes on how to recreate a number of famous British beers. I've not been a bitter drinker for a long while and hardly ever visit pubs but this took me right back. I can see me having a crack at some of these one day.

Not the right book for me 'right now' but a good book all the same.
