I've read Outlander numerous times, but decided to re-read it again on a recent beach vacation. I have this copy of Crosstitch, which was the original name of the book, which I picked up from a book trading shelf at a B&B in Ireland a few years ago. I wanted to read it to see if there were any changes in the verbiage from the Outlander version. Aside from alterations to spelling for the UK market (such as things like colour), I didn't notice any differences (which was good).

Overall, I just cannot say enough about this book, and for that matter, about the entire Outlander series (although, they got a little less incredible as they went on). This book is the start of one of the most amazing stories I have ever read, and I'm not even sure how to classify it; often billed as a romance or a time-travel novel, that's a bit of a misnomer as it's also filled with action, war, history, humor, and even (gasp!) sex!

In the end, this is simply an amazing saga filled with characters that you will truly find yourself drawn to. I know very few people who have read this book and not just loved it ... and trust me when I say that once you read one, you'd better have the next (and the next) in the series ready, as you'll want to keep reading to find out what will happen to Jamie and Claire.

Diana Gabaldon is a gifted writer, and I love this book so much that I even took a trip to Scotland a few years ago to explore the land and the culture that she describes so beautifully. I'm looking forward to the mini-series that will be airing on STARZ in summer 2014.

Read this after watching the first season!
It’s soo good just like the show!
Jamie😍 and Claire 🤩
I loved them both, yes she did some dumb stuff but really who can blame her. One moment she’s in her time period with a husband who she is on a second honeymoon on after the war and then bam she’s transported into time period where there is less practice than she is used to and more dangers she has to be careful of.

I will say it’s a plus that she ended up wedding Jamie! There adventure together was so amazing. They went through a lot together and their love grew.

I can’t wait to hop into the second book and continue on with their journey from where they left off
