this book would have been a five-star read, had it not go through with the nonsensical twist in the end. i’m disappointed beyond belief.
1. i would preferred if samantha and cecily were two different people. adding the twist that they were the same person and that cecily came to gabriel’s service out of guilt dampened my mood. i waited for the moment when gabriel would gaze his eyes upon her for the first time. i don’t know—just the thought that he already knew how beautiful and attractive she was prior to knowing her as samantha ruined everything for me. fuck it.
2. gabriel also fucked cecily! fully knowing that at the time, that she wasn’t samantha. how delightful. so romantic. wow. /s
3. cecily and samantha read like two different people. samantha was bold and unafraid while cecily was a weak maiden who didn’t know how to stand up for herself. so it was very disappointing to see samantha turning into cecily in the blink of an eye.
