This was a good read but I like my mysteries to be really sinister and there were elements of this plot i thought we’re heading that way (think creepy doll being found in a bed) but the author skimmed over some of these bits. Would still recommend to read!

I absolutely loved this book. It pulled me into it and made it hard for me to put down. It’s one of those books that you want to finish but when you do wish you hadn’t. Will definitely be reading some of her other books now.

The idea for this is wonderful: a dilapidated country villa in Italy, inherited upon the death of Anna who is the protagonists ex mother-in-law. She arrives to meet her ex husband Joe to decide the fate of the place. It seems haunted, and mysterious happenings ensue. Someone clearly does not want them there.
There is a problem with the execution of the novel in that you will hear excessively about the death of Daniel. While I understand that it is a motivational element it becomes very tedious and large portions can be skipped.
I have a problem with novels in general where you can read the first sentence of each paragraph and perfectly keep up. This is one of those, so if you like that kind of thing this is for you. Loads of repetition.
