My new favorite book, and one of the most beautiful books I've read, ever. Please pick this book up and prepare to FEEL.

This book seemed to have a good storyline, but the writing was more lyrical than I prefer. I typically enjoy a faster paced book and I kept zoning out.

I will always be biased towards a solarpunk based book. I loved every aspect of this book, it’s so well written and the world is such a beautiful and hopeful world that I wish to live in it.
The robots gaining sentience and deciding that they will head off, the world being built sustainably yet acknowledged by the people living in it that it’s not perfect, the tea monk! Tea! Tea that comforts people! A mobile transportation that is not oil reliant. Best of all, an unlikely friendship between a robot and a monk. Lovely lovely stuff.
The dedication says “for anybody who could use a break” and that was certainly me when I picked it up.

Well this was an unexpected beauty! I should have known really after reading To Be Taught, If Fortunate but I loved this little novella! There was such a gentleness to this book and yet the writing was infused with so much feeling!
Brother Dex could be a little abrupt but their restlessness, feeling like an outsider and questioning their life’s purpose was so relatable. I loved the tea ceremonies and how they provided an opportunity for people to connect and remember to take care of themselves. Naturally, I adored Splendid Speckled Mosscap and their appreciation for the simplest of things. The Tea Monk and the Robot… what a perfect premise. I love how they learnt to navigate one another’s expectations and respect each other’s choices but also challenge each other’s principle concepts. Interested to see where this goes as presumably the next book will focus on Mosscap and the quest to find out ‘what do humans need?’ I mean good luck Mossy because we don't even know!
