Two of the most important life lessons I learned from this book:

1. To be happy one needs only to be positive, grateful, and compassionate.

2. Cats never forgive.

Well this was lovely. I've already recommended it to three people and I might recommend it to another 6.

I think my favorite moment was when I had started to hear myself say "this is the kind of thing my grandma used to say" and the actor portraying the Archbishop (may he rest in peace) said attending alluding to exactly that point. He even said "Pollyanna-ish", which is the usual term for blind optimism.

This book is sharp, timely, and wise. And a lot of fun. I went canvassing afterward, and the combo of Doing Something, helping someone, and being a part of something bigger all played to the point: none of us exists alone.

This is an incredible book that evoked so many emotions in me and put words to so much that I’ve been learning. This is one I will be coming back to again and again, both for all of the wisdom and also for the practices included within. What a gift.
