I really enjoyed this one....4.5 really! It was exciting with all the bad guy drama going on. The romance was a really slow burn. I would have preferred if they had gotten together sooner.

WHAT. A. BOOK. I love almost every minute of it. The pacing was amazing for such a shortish book and the characters felt real. They felt developed and fleshed out. I love the interactions between the characters I love that the romance was not rushed but Gadziala took her time to really develop their chemistry. I was on the edge of my seat most of the time and when there was down time in the book I was really just enjoying the characters banter. Sure it’s a serious book but it didn’t have to be for the entirety which Gadziala perfected in my opinion. What a wonderful start to the series for me and the universe and I’m looking forward to reading more. <3

Aven is being stalked and the cops won't help her. She turns to a "fixer" (Quin) to help with the problem. I don't want to give anything away! An interesting story with a slow burn bringing Aven and Quin together as both of them are traumatized by different histories while trying to deal with the aftershocks of her case. A well thought out story with a cast of characters introduced to continue the series. Looking forward to the next book

I'm still trying to digest this book, so bare with me... but it was weird.
I'm usually one to read typical romance novels, you know friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, fake relationship, etc. I'm not even sure what this book would be characterized as but it definitely isn't my typical book. I had to find a title with an 'X' in it for my A to Z reading challenge and that is how I came across fixer and its safe to say I didn't know what I was getting myself into.
Aven moved to Navesink Bay to get away from home and start fresh. Little did she know she would find herself in trouble in this sketchy town with a stalker that refuses to let up. He's increasingly encroaching in on her and his actions are beyond inappropriate. The police have been less than helpful and she's desperate after waking up one morning with the worst feeling that today will be the day her stalker gets in her house and tries to do God knows what. This brings Aven to find local "fixer" Quinton Baird.
Quin works on a lot of different types of cases cleaning up other people's messes, but he doesn't take on stalking cases for the reason of there's simply not usually much he can do. But when one of his employees encourages him to check this case out due to hoe desperate the woman sounded for help, his gut tells him its the right thing to do. Little did he know what kind of mess he would be stepping into to help a beautiful woman stuck in a bad situation.
I quite liked this book at the beginning and thought the premise was interesting even though the details about Aven's stalker made me feel sick. Where the book started to lose me was how the relationship between the two characters seemingly came out of nowhere. In their respective pov's, you could tell they were pining after each other, but when things finally start to happen it feels very out of nowhere with not a lot of build up. Then for a good chunk of the book, the characters literally only speak through text and phone calls, just for Quin to come back to town to write Aven off after an honest misunderstanding. I don't know, after the first quarter or so of the book, I was convinced I would read the whole series at some point, but by the time I finished, I knew I could live without it. This book may be some people's cup of tea, but unfortunately it wasn't mine.

This was a good surprise, wasn't expecting much from it, but it was entertaining, mostly fast-paced and got me out of a reading slump.
I like Aven, she's really strong to deal with all that mess with the stalker and her thing with Quin was slowly built, which was good. The drama at the end was unnecessary, miscommunication is wayyyyyy overused in romance books, also, Aven should have made Quin grovel a bit more. And I like the side characters, I'm curious to read more about them in the next books.
Also, I think the characters were a little one-dimensional. Yes, it's a plot driven and quick book, but at the end I didn't feel that we really know Aven and specially Quin.
