Suspenseful but fell a little flat

Maybe it was too predictable but I cant say I saw every turn coming so I think I comes down to the writing it had good pieces and a good overall story but it wasn’t a compelling read. Interested to see how they adapt this for the screen might be one of the few movies/miniseries that’s is better than the book. I wouldn’t say not to read it though. It was a quick entertaining read and a decent story overall

Audiobook- this book really was lacking. I read it because the show they made from it looked intriguing.

Josie and Lanie are twins who were home when their father was murdered back when they were teenagers. Lanie claimed to have seen the murderer and her testimony landed him in prison. Cut to years later when Josie has reinvented herself and put her past behind her, she hears everyone talking about the new podcast and she catches someone say her father's name. With a podcast looking into her father's murder, Josie has to confront the past head on whether she likes it or not and find out once and for all if her estranged sister was telling the truth all those years ago.

I really enjoyed the way this book was formatted mixed with storyline and then podcast transcripts. I will admit that I only just listened to the Serial podcast late this summer (I was living under a rock, okay?) and was thoroughly intrigued by it so this book was right up my alley. It was a very quick read for me filled with family drama and twists and turns. I will say I figured out the ending about halfway through, but enjoyed how it played out nonetheless. 3.5/5🌟

Suspenseful and timely. I stayed up late as I plowed through the second half of this book, anxious to see how it would end! A must read for anyone who listened to Serial, especially if you found yourself wondering what the experience must have been like for Hae Min Lee's family. This book tells that side of a similar story.

Very different from the Netflix show. The mother and the accused boy don't factor into the story much, and when they do, their reaction felt meeh. I would assume a wrongly convicted person and their family would have stronger reactions.
