I really do like Forster, but this was an absolute slog to get through. I get the importance of this book, but no way do I think it's his best. So very boring.

I hadn’t read this book since college, so when my college age granddaughter said that she was reading it for a class, I decided to revisit it. It is still a miraculous piece of writing, and I am thrilled that my granddaughter is loving it and learning so much from it….but in the intervening years, I have read, and continue to read, with endless curiosity,so much brilliant writing about India that A Passage to India feels foundational rather than revolutionary, which is surely how it was received in 1924.
