I'm a fan of Mark Russell's satire ([b:God Is Disappointed in You|17689005|God Is Disappointed in You|Mark Russell|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1375480004l/17689005._SY75_.jpg|24710699], [b:Billionaire Island|55377284|Billionaire Island|Mark Russell|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1600526355l/55377284._SY75_.jpg|86366645]), so when he writes straight drama, I feel like something is missing. Mind you, this is a strange setting (a reimagining of Hanna Barbera's Snagglepuss as a William Faulkner/Tennessee Williams stand-in dealing with HUAC and being gay in the 1950's), but the whole enterprise is so earnest that it falls flat for me. Removed from my collection.

I was filled with existential dread while reading this at certain parts. That’s how you know it’s good. Creative reimagining and smartly written

Fantastic. Mark Russell does for Snaggletooth what he did for the Flintstones. Whereas he used the latter for consumerism, he repurposes Snaggletooth to address politics and LBGTQ rights. Poignant and heartbreaking.

Having watched the cartoon as a kid from time to time, i was unsure how this modern take was going to turn out. Turns out, it was much better than I was anticipating. The humanistic and personal story told here was something i wasn't expecting, especially from none other than the goofy, stuttering Snagglepuss. I am unfamiliar with Mark Russell but this story was quite fresh for something presented in a comic book form and really shows what the comic book medium can truly do. The artwork complemented the story perfectly and all of the appearances from various other Hanna-Barbera were a complete joy to see.

Disclosure: Thanks goes out to DC and NetGalley for gifting me an ARC copy of this graphic novel in exchange for an honest review.
