It's a cool story, and I like the way it's written, I also like the audiobook narrator, but.... I don't know, I'm just not vibing with it.

I liked this book, but I definitely didn't love it. And I didn't like it as much as I hoped I would either. Despite being titled A Natural History of Dragons, the book feels truer to its subtitle, A Memoir by Lady Trent. There's surprisingly little about the actual dragons or their natural history. I was imagining something more along the lines of the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik, not for the actual dragon characteristics and society, but in that dragons are an integral part of the story. And Lady Trent herself (just Isabella in this book) seems a caricature of the daring Victorian lady rather than a complex character in her own right. I find her forgettable.

But still, I give this 3 stars instead of 2 for some reason...

Interesting little book that definitely reads like someone's memoir. If you enjoy reading memoirs and dragon related books, this might just be the thing for you.

DNF. Characters are a disappointment and the period is a flat masquerade of stereotype, with the narrator absolutely hyped on that not-like-other-girls juice
