Jules Verne simply cannot hold my attention for love nor money. Having already read Around The World In 80 Days, most of this books underdeveloped characters felt like they'd just been transplanted from that. If I read it at publication the idea of what lay under the ocean would probably be fascinating, but in the present day it simply reads like a 350 odd page list of things that can be seen in or from a submarine

DNFd at 70%. This was not a bad book, but it didn't hold my attention and I was never excited to pick it back up. I have way too many books on my TBR to keep reading books I'm not fully enjoying.

This might have been doomed by the audio book, or it really fell off. But it was totally interesting and immersive, with secret water passages under Africa, but then I just got lost with all the do or don't they mutiny bit. I would probably check it out again in the future.
