This is one I kind of forgot about because of when I read it, which was before 2007. Many many many of the books I read before I read Twilight in the 7th grade got forgotten unless they were true favorites like Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl, The Echorium Sequence, etc. so it was strangely surreal when I was going through some grade school drawings and found a bunch of drawings of a girl with really long hair (I LOVED drawing long hair when I was that age) and wearing a hat that said "Pig City" on it. So I decided to buy it because obviously 10-year-old me liked it! I'll probably reread it sometime to refresh my memory and, who knows, maybe my opinion will change?

I was searching for something in our attic and instead found a box of my old journals. They are truly hilarious and I've spent the past 20 minutes reading the on from 6th grade. Apparently I read this book. Here was my 6th grade self's review:

"It's good. It's about 2 clubs called "Pig City" and "Monkey Town." Well, G/G! Bye! -Rachel '98"

My sisters and I loved this book when I was about ten--I think we started a club based on "Pig City"--but I really don't find it very appealing any longer.

Not the best Sachar book, but it does do a great job with the ever-increasing chaos. I found myself feeling very sympathetic for the poor teacher, who must preside over it all.
