Great read if you have some mommy issues unresolved, I don’t though. Language is ornate for no real reason other than a masturbatory attempt to “write well” or whatever is going on here. Plot is not interesting for a gothic text - Castle of Otranto is much better for an example of the genre.

This is an adventure novel in the style of 1001 nights, and orientalism fetishisation is so incredibly apparent all the way throughout. It makes it quite off putting and at times feels like the author is just putting words on a page without any sense.
