I’ve been reading this book in 10 min increments at concerts in between acts since summer ‘21 and I finally finished. Really a gem and such a perfect distillation of the people it represents

A mix of art and tech, this is a look at 2010s internet culture, following Emily as she joins a techbro start up and tries to capitalise on memes. The characters are all interesting, and although I probably missed a lot of the references I enjoyed the cynical and at times self-aware narrative.

Considering I logged on in the 2010’s and never logged off this book was meant for me. Working in social media now, I can only relate to the ruse of media start-ups and disastrous open concept offices. A good reminder that most of the time people in power have no idea what they’re doing either.
