Fun and readable, but a little too much going on - they kept having reasons to split up which could have been fixed with a little communication.

The sale of an old Cannes estate brought the h and H together. She was posing as an eco-warrior/real estate agent and he was the client buying her beloved grandmother’s house. The house where she spent her happiest times. He wanted to develop it. Not an auspicious start.

Their initial meeting was filled with animosity on her part and arrogance on his. To stop her from making a mess of his plans, he took her to his yacht and out to sea. They got to know each other in the biblical sense and he learned that she wasn’t what he thought she was. She learned about sexual attraction leading to fun times don’t always lead to love for both. She ran off and left him asleep on a beautiful beach.

After she signed the contract of sale on the house he learned who she really was. Under the pretense of returning some items he found in the old house, he visited her. He learned a lot about who he was while at her father’s house. And learned who his mother is. And the consequences of his actions with the h. He was heartbroken and had to break the h’s heart too. There was no other option.

Gawd! I almost bawled when he learned the truth and saw the extent that he would go to to protect her. My heart broke for him. And the h’s reaction, not knowing what the H assumed, it was equally heartbreaking.

India Grey wrote a doozy of a book that grabbed me and held me until the end. I even with their shortcomings, the h and H are wonderful and engaging. A great read!
