No thanks, I hated it.  Cringey romances, predictable plots, and yet unbelievable circumstances...

I’m not going to lie I found the first 10 chapters of this novel insufferable and actually texted friends some especially bad lines
It was all just too British for me

I think an important rule of thumb was broken here - if you’re writing a light sci fi, don’t try to explain the science. We’ve suspended our disbelief. It’s fine. People who don’t know things about science do not gain anything from a few clumsy paragraphs, and people who do know things about science just get annoyed.

Boy I personally wasn’t ready for the character named Kevin to die of cancer at a young age

I went into this book expecting to love it but I only found it ok.

Your Perfect Match is a company that has discovered a unique gene that links two soul mates around the world. This book follows a number of these matches, showing a range of the potential experiences that could be born through this sort of discovery.

I enjoyed some storylines more than others. There were implications of being "only gay for you" which felt a bit funky. Overall, I liked the premise but didn't find the reveals particularly shocking.

The story was well-written and definitely a page turner. I loved seeing how each characters story unfolded and the book explored some deep and unsettling themes. However, I don't know if I love the ending for a couple of characters
(Mandy - this is creepy to me, Ellie - is everything she learned about opening up just forgotten?)
I also wish the science was explored more especially about genes being passed down/sharing genes with someone (think about twins - how would their matches work?), but I understand this was just a story and not everything has to be 100% logical and fact based.
