I read this many years ago. The characters in this book have incredible staying power. Sure this is about a wall. It's about the wall as a symbol for rebuilding a life both the interior and exterior life.Paul Auster is an amazingly talented writer. If we develop a way to lengthen the human life span I hope we will give it to this author so he can write many more books. This work takes on a life of it's own as a firefly sends a beacon of light this work sends a beacon of a lasting almost spiritual quality.

This book speaks to the masculine in us the need to build and protect the created legacy.

I really enjoyed this. First time reading Paul Auster. Highly readable, deceptively simple on the surface but full of deep characters. Definitely recommended.

Enjoyed this more than Mr Vertigo - the story is better.

Not one of Auster's stranger books, but definitely weird.

Isolation, gambling, and a big wall.

a great story told brilliantly well. kafkaesque. greek tragedy. however you choose to describe it this book definitely makes you feel a sense of disillusionment. and living in a time and place where disillusionment is available in abundance. asking for more is just… needless to say, there is a little bit of nashe in all of us; in some more than others.
