liked:
- the beginning is very well done
- plot twists in the first half of the book
- letters (my favorite part), and the father character!
- the structure

didn't like:
- characters (except father) are not developed and very flat
- pretty girl still VERY VERY pretty no matter how many bruises she has on her face and how little sleep she had. And no one cares!
- the ending
- the second half of the book is not reallistic AT ALL

I listened to this book as an audiobook and I actually loved it! Usually I am not a fan of one person narrating the entire book and all characters but this one was very well done. I could not get enough of it.

This book was so fast paced, it went from 0-100 really quick. I felt nauseous at several moments throughout the book but a very good read

*trigger warning* 2.5 - I should have paid more attention to them . There were quite a few twists and turns and I had to know the end but this wasn’t my fav. It was very sexually violent. It would have been higher if it had less.

Chilling, but absolutely addictive. Karin Slaughter captures our strongest fears and champions our inner heroine in the most fierce, relatable way!

I am so glad I DNF’d. Plot twist was predictable within about an hour of the audiobook, but I stayed around thinking it might be subversive. It was not. Characters were flat and almost charicatures. Insanely graphic torture/rape descriptions that didn’t seem necessary and provided little to no narrative value.

Also ENOUGH with a character being fat and eating chips as a “flaw”. Lydia’s weight was harped on all the time. A reddit commenter described some plot points as, “Lydia is fat, thus she is strong”. I think that sums up Slaughter’s effort on building the characters.
