In this book, Antonia dives deep into the history of black mental health and Crownsville's Hospital. I love that she adds her own family's perspective to the narrative. As a black woman, it made me think about how mental illness has affected my own family. Through heartbreaking witness accounts, Antonia reveals the inner workings of Brownsville and its impact on the community. I was shocked by how much I didn't know. I think everyone, especially black people, should read this book.
