Update March 24, 2020 : first reread

So, since it's been four years since I've read this companion to the TLC, some ratings changed!

The Keeper: 4 stars
Glitches: 4,5 stars
The Queen's Army: 4 stars
Carswell's Guide to being lucky: 3,75 stars
After sunshine passes by: 3,75 stars
The Princess and the Guard: 5 stars
The Little Android: 4,5 stars
The Mechanic: 4 stars
Something old, something new: 5 stars

average rating: 4,2 stars

I hereby officially finished my reread of TLC! I started "Fairest" back in November, and now I am done and this series is still one of my favourite book series out there. It's definitely not perfect, but I don't care. I love the setting, the characters, the retellings interwoven into this futuristic plot.

Thanks to "Stars Above", the reader gets some background information on the characters and even a chapter two years after the ending of "Winter". I have to say that I would have loved more from Jacin/Winter after the finale book. I feel these two didn't get so much screen time as the other couples and I just need to know how these two are doing. Nevertheless, the last shortstory perfectly rounded about TLC!

That mechanic was going to change everything"

All ratings:

The Keeper, 4.5 stars
Glitches, 4 stars
The Queen's Army, 4.5 stars
Carwell's Guide to being lucky, 4 stars
After Sunshine passes by, 4 stars
The Princess and the Guard, 5 stars
The little Android, 4 stars
Something old, Something new, 5 stars

Oh stars above .... actually, this book is only a collection of short stories, but it's as good as the "normal" books.
I'm a die hard Lunar Chronicles fan and I tried to avoid reading Stars Above for as long as I could. I knew it would mean to say goodbye to the world, to these characters. Nevertheless, it's been a year since Winter, since I re-read the whole series and it was time to read Stars Above.

I loved these short stories. Every single one had a different character, and I had so many emotions while reading. Every character had his own sad past. 'Something old, Something new' is, to my mind, the best epilogue I ever had the pleasure to read. I was so happy to see the characters sooo happy!

I will forever cherish the Lunar Chronicles in my heart and say tearfully goodbye to Cinder and Kai, Scarlet and Wolf, Cress and Thorne and Winter and Jacin

5 stars

This was a nice collection of short stories with mostly back stories of each of the core 8.

The last story was the best. It was wonderful seeing where Cinder, Kai, Scarlet, Wolf, Cress, Thorne, Winter, and Jacin were about a few of years after the events in Winter.

I only have Iko's graphic novel duology left to read in this series and then I'm done! Definitely one of the best YA series I've read.

I really enjoyed all the stories in this book.

Carswell's Guide to Being Lucky reminded me of why I didn't like Thorne until Cress

A Little Android made me tear up

Something Old, Something New made me cry

Already read a few of the stories back when they were just found online. I am delighted that we have a whole bunch of new stories. They were so much fun to read and I loved seeing the characters again and find more about them.
I still need to read one more story, but I am saving that one until I read Winter, otherwise it will spoil the story (and I don't want that).

Definitely would recommend this one. :D

Thorne Thorne Thorne, wait 7 years and you will be the happiest!

Merged review:

This is an essential for the Lunar Chronicles fans. Stories that don't have their own Goodreads pages.
All the other ones really quickly. Glitches 4/5, The Queen's Army 3/5, Carswell's Guide To Being Lucky 5/5, The Little Android 4/5.
The Keeper 5/5. Didn't think i would enjoy it that much. 10 year old Scarlet was so fun and her family affairs, holy crap!
After Sunshine Passes By 5/5. My poor Cress. Wait 7 years. Your life will change forever. Also Marissa gets points for putting Cress and Thorne stories next to each other as they should be.
The Princess and The Guard 3.5/5. I'm so done with these two.
The Mechanic 5/5. Actually like 10/5. Kai and Cinder stop breaking my heart. Also this makes me want to read Cinder again.
Something Old, Something New. 5/5. 10000000/5. The best thing I have ever read. OMFG this is so perfect. The lack of Cress and Thorne bothers me but let's let that slide. This was amazing.

2020 Thoughts
5/5 Stars

I missed this universe so much and I'm so glad to have reread everything in it. Except for Fairest, but I'm not a huge fan of villain origins. All the characters hold such a dear spot in my heart and I want to treat them all like my children. Which is so wild, considering when I first read the series I was younger than all of them. Now I'm older than all of them. How time flies.

I really had no issues with this book. I listened to a lot of it on audiobook and I read the last bits of it physically. It's amazing and every story was well-loved by me. 10/10 would read again.

+1
This was a book that I never wanted to put down. Seriously it may have taken me a little bit to get into but once I did, I remembered how much I loved the universe that Meyer has created.

+1
I couldn't choose a favorite story (ok maybe I could but I won't say which one) but I loved them all so much and I wish she would create more.
