This charming book details a family's celebration of a Chanukat HaBayit--the dedication of a Jewish house with a celebratory meal and the placement of mezuzot on its doorposts. The family in the story is a contemporary American one. Some Orthodox readers might be somewhat uncomfortable about some of the illustrations' details (women in sleeveless dresses and the like), but most audiences will enjoy this book as well as finding it informative.

I liked many things about this book, including the collage elements in the illustrations (although my children preferred the similarly-themed Just Right).

There is one thing I'd like to mention though: the book contains G-d's name in Hebrew in a background illustration containing the text inside the mezuzah. For those who are concerned about "shaimos"--the disposal and treatment of papers and books that contain G-d's name, this is something to be aware of before purchasing the book.
