Just so lovely. This woman has seen so much and yet still holds so much love in her heart.

Quite disappointed in my first Maya Angelou read. I enjoyed some of the sections, but overall felt it had quite a conservative tone and I didn't manage to finish it.

The essays were so short, so I couldn't really get that attached. But I read a lot of things that resonated with me, and Maya Angelou's voice feels like a blanket hug. *3.5
"I am convinced that most people do not grow up. We find parking spaces and honor our credit cards. We marry and dare to have children and call that growing up. I think what we do is mostly grow old. We carry accumulation of years in our bodies and on our faces, but generally our real selves, the children inside, are still innocent and shy as magnolias."

Inspiring and uplifting. How wonderful that Angelou is not afraid to share the difficult ways she learned life lessons.
