This was a super short prequel book. While I it was fun, and I enjoyed it, I wouldn't go out of my way to track it down if you're having a hard time finding a copy.

This short story introduces the Earth's last private investigator Zachary Nixon Johnson. Along with his super computer, Harv, Zach has to find the bomber who has destroyed some wind turbines. It seems to be an inside job and the owner of the wind farms wants Zach to keep a low profile during the investigation. Not as funny as the series, but a good start filled with action and misgivings. You shouldn't miss the series if you enjoy sci-fi, action and mystery, and have a soft spot for geeky jokes.
