I liked Mr. Darcy's Diary better. This book had new characters not included in Pride and Prejudice so that there was someone to write letters to. It wasn't very introspective so did not offer me a fuller insight to the original.

Charming, and a good retelling of Pride and Prejudice. If you've read Pride and Prejudice, then you're not likely to find anything very surprising in the story itself, but there are a few characters that are not mention, or very little mentioned, in the original that make more important appearances here - mainly for the sake of giving the characters someone to write to.

Spoilers: I think my favorite parts were at and after the first proposal, when Mr. Darcy admits he loves Elizabeth and finds a way to always make his letters about her and wax poetic. It always made me laugh.

I enjoyed reading the story in the style of letters, even though it followed more like the BBC movie than the original novel.

for jane austen fanfiction, it wasn't bad. i've enjoyed grange's journals, but this was a bit more uneven -- not enough change of voice between characters, anachronisms standing out more, etc. still, enjoyable. unfortunately, i am generally a sucker for this story so i will read anything once (or twice).

I'm only rating this 4 stars because it is so self-indulgent and gratifies the "what do you think Mr. Darcy was really thinking?" Question. I know we all were wondering. Good book, repetitive at times, makes me think a little better of Mary.

Well it is interesting way to write the book. I love All about EB&FD. But when it talk about other character(not even in the book) i get really bored. Sorry but it is true. Took me ages to finish it. I skip all the boring bite. Just try it. And decide for yourself haha

3.5 rounded up. I enjoyed this but I can’t give so much credit to the writing because much of the language was copied and pasted directly from the 1995 bbc adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. I did enjoy the expansion of the world to include several new characters and seeing the beginnings of the Bingley family and everyone prior to the start of the original text. I liked seeing other characters reactions through all the letters but for a book written entirely in letters I was shocked to find that It lacked Darcy’s letter to Lizzie. Like…of all the letters to forgo it was that one? The most important letter in the entire story?????

Some of the additions also didn’t feel so necessary especially in all the writing from Mary as her insights didn’t provide anything except to remind us that Mary exists. She deserves better.

Really liked this retelling of Pride and Prejudice by Amanda Grange. What makes it unique is that it is told from letters between characters. It made the retelling even more interesting with insight into each of the characters that you couldn't get any other way. Amanda Grange's writing felt like I was reading Jane Austen.
