The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Vol. 8: My Best Friend's Squirrel by Erica Henderson, Ryan North

So... uh... the official description says this goes to issue 32. Which seems unlikely since that starts a new story. So I guess it'll only go to 31. Probably this changed with Erica Henderson's departure from the book on art. So I'll consider this done (yes, I'm reading individual issues.) Squirrel Girl continues to delight, by being optimistic and fun without feeling like it's trying too hard or forced. This storyline, in particular, ends up being a nice change of pace. And Erica's find issue is something really special.

Another great and fun arc, but that last issue came out of nowhere for me and kind of made me choke up a bit and was a fitting ending.

A great volume. This one was mostly taken up with a planet of alien squirrels under threat from Silver Surfer shenanigans. My favorite issue, however, was the last one where Doreen and Nancy get trapped in super-speed that turns out to be surprisingly poignant.

Issues 27-30 were a typical fun Squirrel Girl romp, and as always I love the writing and the characters and OF COURSE the art. I'm a little nervous that the subsequent issues will have a different artist attached to them, Erica Henderson's style is so boisterous and fun, just like Squirrel Girl, and matches Ryan North's writing so well.
Issue 31 was so sweet and so touching. Doreen and Nancy get trapped for the weekend in hyperspeed, where they are moving so fast that everything around them seems like it is frozen in time. Nancy and Doreen have the perfect friendship, and by the end I was tearing up a lil bit.

Spoiler
They spend an entire lifetime working together to find a solution to their being frozen in time, while simultaneously keeping NYC entirely safe (for the span of that weekend).marioncromb's review against another edition

I think i read this many years ago as single issues, but it still a joy to read again! The art and writing work so well together, and its incredibly funny. Its very internet humour the way everyone speaks. I laighed a lot at the bathroom on a multi-species spaceship joke. I love how squirrel girl and her friends solve problems through empathy and kindness.

I will miss Henderson's art on this book so much. A bunch of happy tears.

Nancy & Tippy-Toe have been abducted by a planet of squirrels to help them defeat Galacticus, who is threatening to eat their planet unless they fork over all their valuables to the Silver Surfer & his bros. What?
Squirrel Girl tracks down her friends with the aid of Loki (the new Sorcerer Supreme...where is Dr. Strange? On holiday?) and Drax. Is there wild crossovers? Yes! Is it always fun and hilarious? Also, yes! Squirrel Girl finds herself having to negotiate peace with a coalition of 76 different races that had overcome their vendettas with one another to mete out justice to the Silver Surfer (surf's up, dudes?)...only to find out that it wasn't the REAL Silver Surfer...and now find themselves once again at each other's throats.
I love this series & recommend it to everyone.
